PV-powered water supply for health (Dominican Republic,
Honduras) – Helped four communities establish
PV-powered water-pumping projects, install latrines, and establish
oral rehydration therapy sites, under a USAID-supported project.
Also trained local health promoters, water committees, and families
in health and sanitation. Through its AguaSol program,
Enersol has developed more than a dozen PV-powered water projects
in partnership with communities without potable water.
-
Public-private partnerships for health and education (Honduras)
– Supply PV-based energy services to local schools
and a health center in northern Honduras using rural energy
delivery company infrastructure in Honduras and a partnership
with a local utility. The pilot Soluz projects demonstrated
the cost-effectiveness of meeting energy needs for health and
education with PV and with existing commercial installation
and maintenance infrastructure.
-
Solar-powered computers for schools (Haiti, Honduras,
Dominican Republic) – Implementing projects to
supply rural schools with PV-powered computing equipment, lights,
and audio-visual equipment to improve educational access, along
with related curricula. Enersol’s EduSol program
has included projects such as the installation of systems for
lighting and for basic computing systems with e-mail and Internet
access.
